Thanks to the constant improvement of communication technology, people who are not physically present in the same location are able to exchange information and emotion conveniently. However, as an increasing number of troubles or even crimes caused by modern communication technology have emerged, people have gradually realized it is actually a double-edged-sword and not all people can benefit from it.
Admittedly, modern communication tools to a large extent make it more convenient for people to get in touch. With the help of telephones and computer-based technologies, people standing in different places can talk to each other or send messages. The invention of video chat connects people more closely by allowing people to see each other’s face. In addition, the powerful functions of social medias, attracting especially youngsters, enable people to communicate with even more friends by updating status and uploading pictures.
However, while some people appreciate the benefits brought by modern communication technology, others suffer the pains. Obviously, the convenience of keeping in touch facilitated by modern communication technology has invaded people’s private life. On weekends or vacations, people may receive emails sent by colleagues and calls from clients. The emergent issues they communicate may ruin people’s holiday or even urge people to buy a ticket and go back to work the next day. Even worse, some criminals boasting excellent computer skills steal people’s private information from websites they register, eavesdrop others’ calls, and monitor others’ phones. All these illegal activities generate many troubles to modern society.
To sum up, it is true that the advancement of modern communication technology has bring many benefits to modern citizens, but there are also many people who cannot benefit and suffer the pains.
Some people think people have benefited from modern communication technology, while others think some people have not benefited at all. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
